Course Lottery

A clarification to the lottery system of course assignments:

After the early registration deadline (April 9), we will run lotteries to determine who can enroll in any regular session class that has an enrollment cap. In these lotteries, Enrolled Participants will have priority over Affiliates, such that any class filled by Enrolled Participants will not be available to Affiliates. After this is done, we will inform participants about which regular session classes they are enrolled in (on April 28), and participants will have a one-week period to change their choices of presession classes (until May 4). Then we will run the lotteries for presession classes.

The lottery for each presession class which has an enrollment cap will give preference to people who are enrolled in regular session courses which require that presession class; the next level of preference will be people who are enrolled in regular session courses that recommend it; the third level will be people who are not required or recommended to take it. Within each level of preference, Enrolled Participants will have priority over Affiliates.

On May 13, we will inform participants about which presession courses they are enrolled in. After this date, course registration will be open again for changes (subject to availability) until June 1. It will not be possible to sign up for courses between April 21 and 28, or May 4 and 13 (while the lotteries are being run). Anyone who signs up for a regular session course after April 21 or a presession course after May 4 will be enrolled in courses subject to availability, in the order that their requests to register are received. Enrolled Participants will not have priority over Affiliates after this point.
